Amanda Johnson

Head Coach

Phone: 651-485-6199

I have been swimming competitively since I was 8 years old. I swam for Park High School from 7th grade to my senior year in high school. In high school I also competed and made it to State in Nordic Skiing and also was a letter winner for Track and Field. I went to college at Minnesota State University of Moorhead where I swam for the college team. When I came back home, I started assistant coaching for both the boys and girls team for Park High School. I then took over both programs at Park High School as the head coach. I have been coaching since 2004.

I am married and have 4 children. Even though I am very busy with my kids and coaching I love to bowl, play softball and volleyball in my spare time. I love to be outdoors and love to fish and camp with my family.

Patti Hagen

Diving Coach

I have been an athlete all my life, starting with gymnastics and softball.  I am a Park High graduate with the class of 1997.  I was a Park gymnast from 7th grade through 12th grade, competing at state, receiving All-Conference and All-State Honorable Mention and had the honor of being a letter winner and co-captain.  I joined Park swimming as a 7th grader and was recruited to be a diver in 9th grade.  I was named captain for 2 seasons and received All-Conference and All-State Honorable Mention honors.  I was blessed to have a great coach and team and was able to compete until graduation.  I was also the first female pole-vaulter for Park High in 1997.

I have been both a gymnastics and diving coach for several years, starting in 1999. I was fortunate to work with Woodbury as the diving coach for the last 4 years, and now I am very excited to be back at my alma mater!  My coaching philosophy is simple: we work hard and we play hard. I have high expectations of my athletes and will push them (comfortably) to their highest potential.  The biggest thing, however, is the door to my "office" is always open as I am a firm believer in clear communication with my athletes as well as parents.

I live in Hastings with my daughter, dog and 2 cats, and I work full-time for the State of Minnesota. In my spare time, I enjoy going to the gym, singing with my band and being outside in the warmer months as much as possible.

Abby Olson

Assistant Coach

My name is Abby Olson and I have been coaching for Park High School since 2011.  I started swimming with a local synchronized swim club at the age of five and then switched to competitive swimming in high school. I swam for North High School and later for the University of Wisconsin at River Falls.

Outside of coaching, I am a park ranger for the National Park Service and a substitute teacher. When it comes to coaching, I believe that everyone should feel comfortable and free to learn and compete in a sport they are willing to work at without fear of scrutiny based on gender identity, sexual orientation, or mental health challenges. I strive to create a welcoming, safe environment for student athletes to grow their confidence and self-worth through the lens of sports.

Paige Hill

Assistant Coach

Hi, I’m Paige Hill. I have been swimming since I was 8 years old and I started swimming competitively for Park High School in 7th grade and continued through my senior year. I greatly enjoy coaching due to the many different personalities and people I get to work with a coach. I really enjoy seeing the swimmers grow stronger and more confident in their skills not only over the season but through the years.

Since graduating from Park in 2021 I went straight into college. I went to the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities for 2 semesters but then decided to shift my academic focus and transferred to Saint Kate’s to enter their PTA program (physical therapy assistant). Outside of coaching and school I have worked for the community educations aquatic since 2016 and I also work as a Direct Care Provider for those with special needs. Then when I have some time to myself I enjoy hammocking, crocheting, or reading. Please reach out if you have any question for me or concerns! Communication is key to a great year and season!
