Mike Weah - Bio

After idolizing his youth coaches as a student-athlete growing up, Coach Weah enters his first season as Head Coach at Park High School. He has been coaching in the program since 2015 beginning as 9th grade Head Coach before taking over the Junior Varsity Head Coaching duties in 2016.

Coach Weah is dedicated to doing the little things that develop growth in character and build a strong program. He sees this opportunity as his dream job and can't wait to conquer the task at hand and bring some excitement to the community here at Park High School and in Cottage Grove. He also uses his position as a Head Coach to inspire and transform what he teaches on the court to life outside of sports. "I believe that sports can be one of the greatest learning tools in a student's life if coaches are willing to take the time to focus on building well-rounder character."

Mikey Weah has always had a passion for hoops and grew up playing a lot traveling and AAU basketball. He went on to play college basketball at the University of Sioux Falls from 2009-2011 before serving his first coaching opportunity as a Graduate Assistant at Central Lakes College in 2012. There he learned to accept a new role that called for him to do the dirty work in the program like doing player's laundry and getting the other coaches on the staff their coffee and doughnuts. He was even the guy who danced in the middle of the huddle before games. "Being at Central Lakes was a humbling but great experience for me. I was forced to do duties that I never would have imagined myself doing in my own playing days but I understood what my role was in the overall success of the team and I learned how to be a star in that role. In the end we won the NJCAA State Tournament and qualified for the national tournament. I was able to learn many different aspects that go into running a succeeding program."

When not in the classroom or the gym, Coach Weah likes to spend time with his family and little cousins. He also still enjoys playing video games like NBA 2K from time to time.
